2026 Western Shootout Main Event

REGISTRATION OPENS MARCH 22ND

With deep roots in the legends of the American West; Doc Holliday, John Wesley Hardin, and Billy the Kid it is only fitting that the NAOL returns to Texas to host the Western Shootout once again. This year, the event rides into Houston, the city where Texas won its independence.

The 1 ½ day affair takes place on May 1,2, at the Dragon’s Lair (21155A Tomball Parkway, Houston, TX 77070). One of Houston’s premier comic and gaming destinations, Dragon’s Lair features a full bar with food and drinks, along with a spacious and comfortable gaming area.

Chris “Billy the Kid” Rice, your host, will be digging deep into his personal collection and bringing 100 autographed items to give away during the event. Every participant will go home with at least one highly sought-after signed collectible.

All participants will receive an exclusive event promo card (or playmat) complement of LRG.

A draw will take place for a sealed box of ERB World Legends and a $50 gift certificate to the ERB store.

Friday Night Modern Showdown On Friday at 6:00 PM, we kick things off with a single-elimination Modern Standard format tournament.

Saturday Western Shootout – Legacy Mixed The main event starts at 10:00am on Saturday May 9th. Entry is $50 per player, with 100% of proceeds going toward cash prizes. The prize pool will be divided 60/20/10/10 among the top four players. The top 8 will receive exclusive Event pins along with a very exclusive foil event promo card. Each finalist will take home a sealed booster box of ERB World Legends.

Saturday “Second Chance” Tournament A free Second Chance single-elimination tournament will run concurrently with the Top 8 Finals on Saturday evening.

• • Every player will choose 1 autograph from a binder of autographs from Chris’s collection

Event Swag & Player Draws Every registered player will receive an exclusive non-foil OverPower promo card, available only at NAOL Majors. Each 2026 Major features a different promo card, curated by Felipe Cagno, creator of the acclaimed comic series The Few and Cursed. An avid OverPower player and NAOL community member, Felipe will personally select artwork from The Few and Cursed for these promos. All promo cards are fully sanctioned for Modern and Legacy play and are expected to become highly sought after collectibles.

In addition, all registered players will receive a time-limited 10% discount code for the LRG Merchandise Store.

There will be a player draw for 1 sealed booster box of ERB World Legends, as well as draws for 7 exclusive commemorative event playmats.

Players can earn an exclusive commemorative event playmat by being the first to achieve one of the following: winning by Venture 7, securing a Spiritual Victory, or advancing to the Top 8 using a deck constructed entirely of Modern characters. If any of these conditions are unmet, the corresponding playmats will be added to the event draw pool.

Larry VanEtten,The OrangeKing, will once again sponsor the OrangeKing FNG Award. The top finishing player competing in their first ever NAOL Major will receive a $25 gift certificate to The OrangeKing Collectables online store.

Season-long awards points are also available to be earned. The NAOL Player of the Year will receive a one-of-a-kind POTY trophy and free admission to all 2027 LRG Regional events and NAOL Majors. New for 2026, the player or players who attend the most NAOL events will be awarded The Immortal Trophy, along with a complete 2026 NAOL event non-foil Promo Set. Additionally, any player who competes in four or more NAOL Major events during the season will receive the full 2026 non-foil promo set. So participate, earn points and win prizes!!

There are two airports serving the Houston area. The venue is a 30 minute drive from The George Bush Intercontinental (IAH) Airport. It is 60 minutes from the William P. Hobby (HOU) Airport. Houston offers countless hotels and dining options just minutes from the venue and is widely regarded as one of the best food cities in the country. Make a weekend of it and explore the city before or after what promises to be an outstanding event. Within an hour’s drive, you can visit the San Jacinto Battlegrounds, where Texas secured its independence, along with NASA, Galveston, the Houston Zoo, and an impressive collection of museums. For something truly unique, travel west to Newman’s Castle in Bellville and experience a fully functional medieval-style castle complete with a drawbridge and moat.
